21 December, 2012 is the last day on the 5000 year old Mayan calendar. The end of time brought doomsday scenarios, but according to the Maya we will change to a higher level.
The time after December 21, 2012 is described by the Maya as a transition to a new world consciousness. A time of reflection and awareness in a world of change, rebirth and harmony. Back to nature and respect for our natural resources.
In this context, Sol-y-Yo created a collection of sustainably-produced statues, vases and pottery. Because each product is handcrafted, the identity of the maker is visible. The design of these handmade pieces is based on the original, pre-Columbian art of the time of the Mayans as it is exhibided in the Anthropology Museum in Mexico City and in other museums around the world.
